My first Zombie's

As I may have mentioned before I have absolutely no talent for painting miniatures. This maybe the only thing I am envious of in others. So I have purchased all my models via Ebay painted and based. Here are the zombies I first brought:
These were my second purchase to be used if I ever get to surviving over a year as they are less dressed

The thing with buying 28mm miniatures they are not 28mm lol. The one on the right is 31mm and the one of the left is 34mm.

  1. Nice work I love the Mantic zombies they bulk out the horde nicely.

  2. That's not a bad start to your collection with lots of variety. I never worry about height discrepancies between figures as it merely reflects real life.

    1. Very true and I've got more variety as well as I have acquired some hasslefree and studio ones too. Pics to follow.

  3. What they said dude, get a motley collection from all different sources and your horde starts to reflect reality. I have studio, Mantic, Wargames factory and a couple of others and it works...

    1. I've certainly got a motley colection and it does work

  4. Good start and despite what some others may say you don't really need an awful lot of zeds for an ATZ game.

    1. I think I've got about 55 Zeds in total now. Don't think I'll be needing anymore. Of course if I see some good painted ones going cheap enough I might get the urge to splash out

    2. "Don't think I'll be needing any more" - famous last words, my friend, that's how we all start!

  5. I don't think your painting is THAT bad. There's nothing wrong with knowing you can do better, but mantic zombies in particularly look rather well painted to me.

If you find your colours to be flat, just wash (paint) them with diluted black paint and after it dries either go over the raised parts with original paint or drybrush them (put brush in paint, give it a few wipes over a paper towel and it will pick risen parts of the miniature).

It would still look basic compared to professional painters, but hey - that's like comparing yourself to a top athlete.

Either way, the buildings look fantastic and good luck with your campaign!

    1. Thanks mat. I didn't paint them though I bought them off eBay painted. I really can't paint. I tried but I just don't have it in me.

  6. I'm in the same boat...fingers like sausages and zero patience. Fortunately I send of my figs...around a dozen a month...to a professional painter (Matt Slade of Glenbrook Games) who does a magic job on mine!

  7. Sounds like a good plan. I unfortunately don't have that option.
